Pastoral Conversation  Pastoral Conversation Minimize

It will soon be time for our Houston Area Texas Conference. This year the conference will be at the Woodlands United Methodist Church from May 25 - May 28.

For those of you who are new to Methodism, the Annual Conference is the regional body of the United Methodist Church. Bishop Janice Riggle Huie presides over the conference and it is composed of an equal number of clergy and laity. Joe Sandel and Gene Myrick are our delegates who will be representing our church at the conference this year.   Other members of our church from Celebration, United Methodist Women and our retired clergy and wives will also be representing our church at the conference, as will Ellen, Mark and I.

Annual Conference is a time to review the year in ministry, ordain new pastors, adopt conference policy and worship together as conference clergy and laity. Times of specific meetings and events will be on the conference web page: www. txcumc.org.

The Woodlands is not that far away, so, if you can, you are welcome to attend any session of the Annual Conference.

Faithfully in Christ,

Rev. Bruce Hay,
Senior Pastor

            Scripture Ref. Matt. 5:18; Luke 16:17; John 8:32, 38; 11 Timothy 3:16-17

Father, we praise You for the scriptures that teach us that Your word is real and true, and not to be changed by man. From Matthew we read that Jesus came to fulfill the law of the prophets, not to destroy it. He said, “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away , one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.” From John we read Jesus words, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free…..Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” Lord, we are so thankful to be free. When we believe Your word, we know the difference in right and wrong. As we study we see how you treated people, we learn how we should live. 11 Timothy reminds us, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Open our hearts to receive the scriptures as we study. Keep us close to You as we choose to believe Your word on salvation, healing, wholeness and all the other promises that are ours in You. Make Your word a light unto our feet and a lamp unto our path. Help us to “walk in Your light and Your love.” Father, allow others to see You in us, in the way we live our lives and follow Your teachings. Use us to make a difference. We pray in Christ’s name, AMEN
