History of Celebration

The First United Methodist Church Huntsville Celebration Chapter celebrated their 12th Birthday in January! The Chapter was chartered as an official Celebration Women’s Ministry Chapter of the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church on January 29, 2000. This ministry was asked to “bring the love and grace of Christ to the women that you encounter.”
The Huntsville Chapter has had a successful twelve years of providing excellent programs, speakers, special music, praise and worship, and bible studies that are made available to all the women in the community and surrounding areas. At our Celebration Chapter meeting in January, we had a Candle Lighting Ceremony to celebrate our birthday, where twelve of our ladies gave their testimonies on “What Celebration Means To Me!” They shared the following testimonies with our chapter:
“Celebration means “Joy” to me. I feel joy in coming and joy in receiving. Also,“Communion” with one another while feasting together on the Spirit and Word.”
Celebration means to me “Fellowship of Christian Women.”
“Celebration opened the window that brought in light and life.”
Celebration is meaningful to me because of “all of the testimonies that were given over the years. How someone’s life was changed by accepting Jesus and trusting in Him.”
“Celebration continues to be a blessing in my life. It is an awesome experience to pray and celebrate Jesus with my sisters in Christ!”
“Through the support and examples of other Christian women, I am much closer to God. The greatest gift from this is that I completely trust in His will to direct my life and be a light for others.”
Celebration means to me “Encouragement: When I say “no, I can’t” my sisters in Christ – the Celebration Ministry says, “yes, you can, we need you!”
It means “Fellowship with good Christian women. When I first moved to Texas, Ruth invited me and I have been blessed at every meeting since.”
Celebration is “Support from the fellow women of Celebration.”
Celebration means to me “Spiritual Growth. The spiritual growth is very evident among the women who attend Celebration.”
“I love Celebration because it has connected me with Women. I was not familiar with Celebration until we moved to Huntsville and became the VP shortly after moving here. I will say that the fellowship among other women seeking to serve Christ is refreshing.”
Celebration means to me “a time of praise and worship, fellowship and growing in my faith.”
This is a “woman-to-woman ministry of sharing, encouraging, discipling, and mentoring in the faith.” Come join us this year! We meet in the FUMC Social Hall on the 4th Monday night! A light supper is served at 6:00p.m. and our program starts at 6:30! For more information, contact Lynda Henry at 295-0499!   Come Celebrate Jesus!
